BUY WITH YOUR HOME IN MIND
Choose by tools, tank space and reach
Choose the Little Green Max Pet if you want lighter carrying, more cord reach and a stain tool with a cleanout setting. Consider the StainStriker HairPro if its hair extractor, small stain tools and larger clean-water tank better fit your jobs. Neither machine’s name tells you which will remove a particular stain better.
This comparison covers the BISSELL 3860 and Shark PX251. It does not compare every Little Green or StainStriker. Check the model number and included tools before ordering; similar names can hide different bundles.
A bigger clean tank does not mean a bigger collection tank
The Shark holds more fresh cleaning liquid, but the Max Pet has more dirty-water capacity. That matters when you are pulling liquid out of several cushions or spots. You might need to empty the Shark’s collection tank while there is still liquid in its clean tank.
For one small spill, neither difference may change your routine much. For several spots, think about both refill trips and emptying trips. Stop at each tank’s fill line rather than trying to use every last drop in the other tank.
Both need carrying space as well as cupboard space. The Max Pet is slightly lighter when empty, but the gap is small. Water adds weight. Compare the body measurements with your storage opening and leave room for the hose and tools.
Check where you can put the base
The Max Pet’s cord and hose are longer than the HairPro’s, as shown in the table. That can make the BISSELL easier to position beside a sofa or near a car when the outlet is farther away.
Cord length and hose length solve different problems: the cord reaches the outlet, while the hose reaches from the base to the mess. Do not add the two lengths and expect that much usable reach. Corners, furniture and the need to keep the base steady use some of that space.
Pick tools for the surface you clean
The Max Pet includes a pet-hair tool and a stain tool with a cleanout setting. After cleaning, that setting sends liquid through the stain tool and hose. You still need to empty and rinse the dirty tank and clear the nozzle.
The HairPro includes a hair extractor and smaller stain-cleaning tools. Those are reasons to consider it for seams and awkward spots. They are not proof that it removes more embedded fur or pet odor than this BISSELL model.
Vacuum loose hair and crumbs before wet cleaning. A portable extractor should not become your everyday dry vacuum just because a tool mentions hair.
Include cleaning solution in your decision
Shark supplies Deep Clean Pet and OXY Multiplier formulas for its dual-solution system. The Max Pet uses compatible BISSELL portable-cleaner formula mixed according to its tank markings. Follow each machine’s instructions; do not swap brands’ mixtures or guess a stronger concentration.
Check which bottles come with your chosen listing and what replacement solution costs. A starter bottle is only part of the ongoing cost; bottle sizes and how much you clean both affect what you spend.
Keep review concerns in proportion
Some Max Pet reviews report leaks. HairPro feedback is mixed on durability and how well suction holds up over time. These are issues to consider, not measured failure rates or a prediction about the unit you receive.
Before you choose either
Check the carpet or furniture maker’s cleaning instructions first. A water-cleanable upholstery code alone does not guarantee that machine extraction is allowed. Avoid soaking cushions, keep the base stable and allow the material to dry before use.
