BUY WITH YOUR HOME IN MIND
Choose by the work you do most
The Max Pet is the lighter choice, with a stain tool that has a cleanout mode. The CleanSlate Plus gives you a wider main tool and more clean-water capacity. Both have the same listed cord length, so the Hoover does not give you extra outlet reach in this comparison.
Choose the Max Pet if you often carry a cleaner to a small spill and want an easy way to rinse its stain tool. Choose the Hoover if you mainly clean broad cushions or mats and want a wide head plus a narrow tool for gaps.
Carrying weight versus refill trips
The Max Pet weighs less before you add water. That can matter if you lift the machine out of a cupboard or carry it upstairs. The Hoover’s larger clean-water tank may mean fewer refill trips when you clean several spots.
Those are different benefits. A bigger tank does not prove stronger suction, and a lighter machine is not automatically smaller in every direction. Compare the body measurements with your storage space, then leave room for the hose and tools.
The clean-water figures in the table are not dirty-water capacities. Both machines collect used liquid in a separate tank, which may need emptying before you use all the clean solution.
Wide surfaces or easier tool rinsing?
The Hoover includes a 7-inch WidePath head and a smaller TightSpot tool. On a broad, fairly flat cushion or mat, the wide head may reduce the number of overlapping passes. The smaller tool gives you another way to approach a seam or gap. Good contact with the fabric still matters.
The Max Pet includes a self-cleaning stain tool and a pet-hair tool. Its stain tool lets you switch to a cleanout mode that sends liquid through the tool and hose. That helps with cleanup, but you still need to empty the dirty tank and rinse removable parts.
The Hoover also has a hose-rinse attachment. You swap to that attachment for its rinse routine, rather than using the Max Pet’s tool lever. Check that your chosen listing includes the tools you want; a similar family name does not guarantee the same bundle.
The reach difference is small
The Max Pet’s listed hose is slightly longer. Both machines have the same listed cord length. For most layouts, choosing a stable place for the base and leaving hose slack will matter more than the small hose difference.
Check the route around a couch arm, an open car door or a landing. Do not balance either machine on furniture just to reach farther. For larger changes in reach or tank size, look beyond this pair rather than expecting one to do a very different job.
What reviews say
Review feedback gives reasons to check cleanup and durability as well as specifications. Some Max Pet reviews report leaks. Some Hoover reviews report hose and spray problems. These themes are useful buying considerations, not failure rates or a prediction about the machine you receive.
Check the surface before choosing either
Both are wet spot cleaners for surfaces whose care instructions allow that method. A W or W/S upholstery label alone does not guarantee permission to use an extraction machine; follow the furniture maker’s instructions. Vacuum loose crumbs and hair first, avoid soaking the fabric and allow it to dry before normal use.
