Choose between shape and filter access

Choose the Core 300S-P if a round body and simple filter access from underneath suit your room. Choose the Vital 100S-P if you want a separate washable pre-filter behind a front cover. Both offer automatic fan control, Sleep mode and the VeSync app.

Their current advertised CADR and room ratings are very close. The Vital is not a clear step up in room-cleaning capacity just because it is taller or has Pet mode. For a typical small bedroom, the more useful choice is how the unit fits and how you want to maintain it.

Which fits beside the bed?

The Core is roughly round, while the Vital is wider across the front and shallower from front to back. Use the body dimensions in the table to check your space, then allow the clearance required by the supplied manual.

Do not treat that shallow Vital body as permission to wedge it between furniture. You still need room for intake airflow and to open its front cover. The Core needs space around its intake too, and you must be able to reach the bottom filter cover.

If the only available spot blocks an intake, choose another location before choosing a machine. Clear airflow matters more than whether a product photo looks tidy against a wall.

The filter-care difference

The Core’s outer pre-filter catches larger debris and is cleaned with a soft brush or vacuum. Do not rinse its filter assembly. When the main filter needs replacing, use the compatible Core 300-series replacement.

The Vital has a detachable pre-filter that can be washed. Its main particle/carbon filter still needs replacement and is not washable. Let the pre-filter dry fully before putting it back.

That separate washable layer is the main reason to favor the Vital in a room where airborne hair builds up. It gives you a convenient way to remove larger debris without replacing the main filter. It does not prove better removal of fine pet dander or odors.

Check current replacement-filter costs for each model before buying. Similar purchase prices can lead to different running costs, and neither filter is a permanent, wash-everything system.

Apps, Auto and Sleep mode

Both models have on-unit controls as well as app features, so you can change basic settings without reaching for your phone. The app adds remote control and scheduling. Choose a manual fan speed if you want predictable airflow rather than letting Auto mode change it for you.

An air-quality sensor responds to the particles it detects. A blue light is not proof that the room has no odors, gases or other pollutants. Pet mode is a control option, not a separate measure of cleaning performance.

Sleep mode lowers fan output. Do not combine the quietest advertised noise figure with maximum CADR and expect both at once. If the bedroom is close to the maximum room rating, plan for a faster fan or a larger unit.

Which would we choose?

For a small bedroom where a cylinder fits neatly and dry pre-filter cleaning is easy enough, the Core is a reasonable choice. Reviews praise straightforward setup and quiet operation.

For a pet owner’s bedroom where you expect to clean a hair-catching pre-filter often, the Vital’s removable washable layer is a useful convenience. Reviews also praise setup and everyday use. That recommendation is about upkeep, not a promise of better allergy relief.

We would not replace a working Core with a Vital solely for its small advertised CADR difference. Check room size, placement and filter condition first. If you need much more airflow, move up a size rather than make a sideways change between these two.
